Lusófona University was present at the European Researchers' Night 2025

On September 26, 2025, Lusófona University was represented by several Research Units and by FilmEU at the European Researchers' Night, which this year was held under the theme "Science for Global Challenges."

At the National Museum of Natural History and Science, the HEI-Lab (hei-lab.ulusofona.pt), SPIC – Psychology, Innovation and Knowledge Service (spic.ulusofona.pt), and FilmEU (filmeu.eu) hosted several activities open to the public.

At the HEI-Lab booth, visitors were able to experience the Systemic Lisbon Battery (SLB), a virtual reality and serious games platform for cognitive assessment and training, and learn about EPIC-WE Games, developed using the innovative Cultural Game Jam model. These demonstrations attracted 189 visitors and served as a showcase for practical and accessible research methodologies and tools in technologies applied to health and culture.

SPIC (https://spic.ulusofona.pt/) hosted activities focused on mental health and the issue of burnout, including the interactive experience "The Chemistry of Burnout: How Emotions Impact Society," which used chemical reactions as a metaphor for the socioeconomic impact of burnout, and "The Wheel of Burnout," a dynamic game that encouraged the identification of signs, the sharing of experiences, and the exploration of coping strategies in an environment of reflection and empathy.

FilmEU – European University took advantage of the initiative to publicize the work developed by the European alliance and promote its joint training offerings in the areas of film and media arts. Visitors were invited to learn about mobility opportunities and joint degree programs offered by partner institutions, as well as explore some of the collaborative activities that unite students, faculty, and researchers around artistic creation, pedagogical innovation, and applied research in the creative industries.

At the Knowledge Pavilion, CIDEFES/FEFD (cidefes.ulusofona.pt) and CBIOS (cbios.ulusofona.pt) brought the community closer to the research work being carried out at these institutions. On a day attended by more than 2,300 visitors, the CIDEFES team promoted activities on the science of movement, with activities designed for audiences of all ages—from physical activity literacy to experimenting with the Move4fun app for children and young people—on a day when the Knowledge Pavilion welcomed more than 2,300 science-curious visitors.

CBIOS (https://cbios.ulusofona.pt/) presented interactive activities related to innovation in health, nutrition, pharmacology, and biomedical technology, highlighting the role of research in building solutions for the health of the future.

Lusófona University's participation in the European Researchers' Night strengthened the connection between researchers and society, gave visibility to projects developed in the various research units, and promoted scientific literacy in a fun, inclusive, and participatory way.

The University thanks all the researchers, partners, and visitors who contributed to the success of this edition.
