The editorial board of the International Journal of Film and Media Arts announces the extension of the submission deadline for Vol. 10 No. 3, Dossier 2, developed in collaboration with the European project CRESCINE. The new deadline for submissions is 15 September 2025.
The question posed in the title of this call for papers is not rhetorical; it reflects an urgent need to critically examine and actively engage with the current and future state of cinema in Europe's smaller nations. This issue invites academics, practitioners and policy-makers to challenge the prevailing paradigms in film studies, which have historically emphasised a binary view of Hollywood versus European/world cinema.
We welcome original contributions that approach this topic from a variety of perspectives.
