1. What is the impact of our research?

Scientific research, whether of a fundamental or applied nature, represents one of the essential foundations of Lusófona University, with the potential to influence all areas of society, covering academic, social, environmental, cultural and economic spheres.

Nowadays, political, business and individual decisions are increasingly based on the most advanced scientific production. This requires universities to prepare and encourage researchers to communicate the impact of their research in a way that is clear and accessible to all.

Funding bodies for research and innovation, both at national and European level, have increasingly emphasised the importance of the impact generated by research. At European level, there is a clear promotion of the adoption of evaluation approaches that are simultaneously more qualitative, robust and integrated.

Given the transformative potential of scientific research, it is vitally important that the impact resulting from it is properly communicated and socially understood.
