The Stanford–Elsevier Top 2% Scientists list, compiled using bibliometric indicators from the Scopus database, identifies researchers worldwide whose scientific work has a significant impact in their respective fields. The 2026 edition considers indicators such as citation counts, the h-index, co-authorship, authorship position in publications and scientific field, among other variables. These metrics provide a comprehensive assessment of the impact and relevance of scientific output, both throughout a researcher’s career and within a specific annual period.
The presence of ULusófona researchers in this ranking reflects the international visibility of the university’s scientific output and the contribution of its Research, Development and Innovation Units (UI&Ds) to advancing knowledge across a range of scientific fields.
