Remind Project: An Inclusive Design to Stimulate People with Dementia
Teacher develops creative pedagogical practices that transform challenges into solutions to improve the quality of life of users.
Cláudia Lima, a lecturer at Universidade Lusófona - Centro Universitário Porto, in the Degree in Communication Design, stands out in addition to her academic activities as a researcher at ID+. Her innovative research project entitled “Remind” explores pedagogical practices aimed at creating playful artifacts for people with dementia. The main aim of this work is to stimulate users' cognitive and sensory abilities, promoting quality of life and meaningful interaction.
Since 2021, the teacher has been working in partnership with Alzheimer Portugal, involving students in the design of personalized projects that meet the needs and preferences of users. This collaboration not only enriches the students' practical training, but also results in empathetic and effective design solutions.
Cláudia Lima complements her research with a practical approach, volunteering weekly with people with dementia. This direct experience allows her to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges and needs of users, insights that are then integrated into the teaching process provided by the University and to identify opportunities for improvement.
