Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation, and has a budget of € 95.5 billion. It tackles climate changes, helps achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and fosters the EU’s competitiveness and growth. The programme facilitates collaboration and reinforces the impact of research and innovation on the development, support and implementation of EU policies, while addressing global challenges. It supports the creation and wider dissemination of excellent knowledge and technologies. It creates employment, fully engages the EU’s talent pool, drives economic growth and industrial competitiveness, and optimises investment impact in a strengthened European Research Area. Legal entities from the EU and associated countries are eligible to participate.

NEW ELEMENTS IN HORIZON EUROPE

European Innovation Council: Support for innovations with potential break-through and disruptive nature with scale-up potential which may be too risky for private investors. This represents70% of the budget earmarked for SMEs.
