Lusófona University researchers take part in CoARA Working Groups

On January 17, 2024, Universidade Lusófona joined CoARA (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment).

In this context, 20 researchers from 8 UI&Ds from Lusófona University took part in 5 CoARA Working Groups, namely:

  • Towards Open Infrastructures for Responsible Research Assessment (10);
  • Supporting the alignment of research assessment systems with CoARA in biomedical disciplines through administrative and governance reforms (4);
  • Multilingualism and language bias in research assessment (2);
  • Reform of academic career evaluation (2);
  • Improving research proposal evaluation practices (2).

The 8 UI&Ds involved are:

  • CBIOS (Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies);
  • CEAD (Francisco Suárez Center for Advanced Studies in Law);
  • CeiED (Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Education and Development);
  • CICANT (Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture, and New Technologies);
  • Hei-Lab (Digital Laboratories for Environments and Human Interactions);
  • I-MVET (Veterinary Medicine Research at Lusófona University);
  • Intrepid Lab (Research for Business and Society);
  • RCM2+ (Asset Management and Systems Engineering Research Centre).

CoARA's Working Groups are key to the systemic reform of research evaluation. The groups function as “communities of practice” and their approach is based on the exchange of knowledge and learning between volunteer members, as well as the discussion of results to advance research evaluation and support the implementation of commitments.

CoARA currently has more than 600 organizations from 40 different countries.
