Launch of Volume 3 of the “Urban Rivers” Trilogy
The book New Perspectives for Urban Rivers: Beyond the RUN Network, corresponding to Volume 3 of the Urban Rivers trilogy, has recently been released within the framework of the RUN – Naturalized Urban Rivers project. This publication represents a significant scientific contribution to the contemporary debate on the relationship between cities and fluvial systems, addressing innovative strategies in urban planning and environmental sustainability.
Edited by Luciana Souza Bragança, Nagayamma Tavares Aragão, María Dalponte Ayastuy, and Luana Rocha de Souza, the book brings together multidisciplinary contributions that explore the challenges and opportunities associated with the renaturalization of urban rivers, promoting integrated approaches between urbanism, environmental management, and territorial development.
The publication is available in three languages — Portuguese, Spanish, and English — aiming to broaden the international dissemination of the knowledge produced and to foster dialogue among researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers working in spatial planning and sustainable water resource management.
Scientific research plays a central role in developing solutions to contemporary environmental and urban challenges and remains one of the key pillars of higher education institutions and research centers. In this context, the dissemination of scientific publications contributes to sharing research outcomes and strengthening academic and institutional collaboration networks.
The book is available through its DOI Volume 3 | 2026 — RUN Rios Urbanos Naturalizados, providing open access to the scientific community and to all audiences interested in urban rivers and sustainable city development.
The promotion of this publication aims to support knowledge dissemination and encourage reflection on new approaches to integrating natural systems into contemporary urban planning.
