“la Caixa” Foundation launches the first edition of the HealthCare Research Call

The “la Caixa” Foundation has announced the launch of the first edition of the HealthCare Research Call, a new funding programme aimed at supporting research projects focused on the design, evaluation and implementation of healthcare interventions. Applications will be open from 8 January to 25 February 2026.

The call seeks to fund research that contributes to disease prevention, health promotion and the improvement of population wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on interventions implemented in real-world settings and with measurable impact. Proposals are expected to be grounded in rigorous methodologies and may include interdisciplinary approaches.

The thematic scope includes areas such as mental health, women’s health, child and adolescent health, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, healthy ageing, and the management of chronic conditions. Projects may be submitted by single organisations or by consortia, including partnerships with non-profit civil society organisations such as patient associations.

Applications can be submitted under three categories — pilot studies, retrospective evaluations and new interventions — with eligible funding of up to €300,000 per project and a maximum duration of three years, depending on the selected category.

Projects will be assessed through a competitive evaluation process carried out by international expert panels, with the results expected to be announced in July 2026. The HealthCare Research Call forms part of the “la Caixa” Foundation’s broader commitment to fostering applied research with tangible impact on healthcare systems and population health.
