EWALD Project Highlighted by EU Space for Innovation in Land Degradation Monitoring

The EWALD research project, managed in Universidade Lusófona /Deep Tech Lab, was recently featured by EU Space for its innovative solutions in environmental monitoring and planetary protection.

Funded by the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), EWALD brings together experts from five countries to develop an Early Warning System. The initiative combines Earth Observation satellite data with remote sensing to accurately identify areas where land is most at risk of degradation, providing local authorities and communities with crucial time to act and mitigate environmental risks.

Beyond its scientific outputs, the official European platform highlighted the project's role in strengthening the talent base for the future of the #EUSpace sector. It demonstrates how satellite data applications can directly drive decisive action for land management, agriculture, and climate resilience.

This international recognition reflects Universidade Lusófona's commitment to research excellence, European collaboration, and the development of cutting-edge scientific solutions addressing global sustainability challenges.
