DOCTUS 2/2025: WIRE by FilmEU Project Opens Call for PhD Students
COFAC - Cooperativa de Formação e Animação Cultural, the promoting organisation of Universidade Lusófona, invites all PhD students from the partner institutions of the FilmEU consortium to apply for the new edition of DOCTUS: Pathways of Contemporary Research, part of the European project WIRE by FilmEU. The next session will take place between 14 and 16 May 2025 at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU), Slovakia.
With the theme ‘Archive, Collective Memory and Nostalgia’, this second doctoral seminar of the year (following the session in Tallinn and preceding the one in Sofia) proposes an interdisciplinary immersion in the intersections between cinema, memory and identity. Through theoretical lectures, practical workshops and commented screenings, participants will explore new methodologies for working with film archives - from critical analysis and audiovisual experimentation to interactive storytelling.
The event is part of the WIRE - Widening Inclusiveness in Research Excellence project, a FilmEU initiative that aims to strengthen collaborative networks, promote creative practices and boost the scientific impact of doctoral programmes in the arts and humanities.
The call is open until 21 April and is aimed at doctoral students from FilmEU institutions, including Universidade Lusófona (Portugal), IADT (Ireland), LUCA School of Arts (Belgium), Tallinn University (Estonia), LMTA (Lithuania), NATFA (Bulgaria), VŠMU (Slovakia) and VIA University College (Denmark). At institutions without doctoral programmes, master's students with a research vocation may also apply. Notification of results: 23 April 2025.
Selected participants will be funded for accommodation, travel and per diem. The application form is available here.
