FCT - Foundation for Science and Technology evaluation confirms ULusófona's excellence

The Foundation for Science and Technology has just released the provisional results of the evaluation of R&D Units (UID) under the 2023/2024 Multiannual Funding Programme for Research Units. The evaluation focused on the scientific and technological activities carried out by national R&D Units between 1 January 2018 and 31 December 2023 and on the objectives, strategy, activity plan and organisation for the period 2025 to 2029.

This is the most important process for evaluating science and innovation in Portugal and ULusófona has achieved notable recognition in this FCT Evaluation process, with ‘Excellent’ and ‘Very Good’ classifications awarded to nine of the Research Units in which the University participates in the most varied areas of knowledge. This
result marks a significant improvement on the previous evaluation, consolidating our University's position as a
a benchmark institution on the national scientific research scene.

In this financial year, three UI&Ds in which Universidade Lusófona participates were rated Excellent, six Very Good and two Good. Of particular note is the HEI-Lab - Human Environment and Interactions Lab at our Faculty of Psychology, which obtained the best rating at national level in the area of Psychology, consolidating its position as a benchmark in scientific research in Portugal in this scientific area. Also noteworthy were our research units in Law (CEAD), Communication and Arts (CICANT) and Education (CEIED), all of which, with Universidade Lusófona as their main institution, obtained a ‘Very Good’ rating.

The result of this evaluation process materialises a strategy of many years to affirm Lusófona University on the national and European science and innovation scene, and once again demonstrates and confirms the quality and excellence of Lusófona University's teaching and research.
