Accessible Communication Applied to Science Communication at the VIII EL Pedagogical Training Days

On 26 January 2026, Universidade Lusófona will host the training session “Accessible Communication Applied to Science Communication”, as part of the VIII EL Pedagogical Training Days. This initiative is aimed at faculty members and researchers and is part of the University’s ongoing commitment to pedagogical development and inclusive academic practices.

The session will take place online, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (UTC – Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London), via Microsoft Teams, and focuses on strengthening skills related to the clear, inclusive, and accessible communication of scientific results.

The training programme addresses key topics in accessible science communication, including an introduction to Accessible Communication and its target audiences, the distinction between Plain Language, Easy Language Plus, and Easy Language, and practical strategies for producing accessible scientific texts.

The session will be delivered by Cátia Casimiro (Ciência ID: 7516-A8BE-F7F1 | ORCID iD: 0000-0002-5606-5474), a specialist in the field of accessible communication, who will share methodological and practical approaches applicable to academic and scientific contexts.

Registration must be completed via the Staff Portal, under “Miscellaneous Requests”, by submitting a request for “Registration in training activities” and selecting the relevant training session. A separate request must be submitted for each training activity.

Following the session, participants will be invited to complete an anonymous evaluation questionnaire, available for 15 days, which aims to assess the quality and impact of the training.
