ULusófona Participates in the 2026 European Researchers' Night

ULusófona and its R&D Units (UI&Ds) will participate in European Researchers' Night (NEI) 2026, hosting a diverse range of interactive activities and scientific outreach initiatives open to the public.

Organized by our researchers, these activities will take place at the Pavilion of Knowledge (Pavilhão do Conhecimento) and the National Museum of Natural History and Science (Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência), demonstrating the impact of research produced at the institution across fields ranging from sustainability, arts, and biosensors to psychology, robotics, and education.

Pavilion of Knowledge (Pavilhão do Conhecimento)

  • CEAD: Looks green? Check it! (Parece verde? Verifica!)

  • GIRI-hub (LusoGlobe): Educational games for Portuguese schools under the Framework for Defence, Security, and Peace Education (in partnership with the National Defence Institute).

  • COPELABS: Biosensor for amino acid detection (tyrosine).

  • BIORG: From Soil to Food Biotransformation: Innovating for the Future | From Source to Ocean: Decisions to Protect Water in a Changing Climate.

  • CBIOS: The Power of Polyphenols: From Food Colour to Skin Health.

  • Robotics Project (Student / Pavilion of Knowledge): Firefighting robot.

  • Multidisciplinary Initiative (HEI-Lab, LusoGlobe, and CeiED): Mentorship that Includes: Building a University Where No One Is Left Behind.

National Museum of Natural History and Science (Museu Nacional de História Natural e da Ciência)

  • INTREPID / HEI-Lab: Activity on teamwork and organizational behaviour.

  • CBIOS: Insect oil on the skin? Science explains.

  • HEI-Lab (in collaboration with FilmEU and DCAM) – Interactive and Immersive Systems for Cognitive, Emotional, and Social Research: A scientific and interactive experience covering cognition, emotion, inclusion, cultural participation, and social inequalities through games, Virtual Reality (VR), Extended Reality (XR), and biofeedback, complete with a Family Passport. Projects on demonstration include:

    • FLAME: VR experience focusing on anxiety regulation, personalized biofeedback, and dynamic content adaptation.

    • ELEVATOR: VR experience on emotional regulation with psychophysiological signal collection.

    • SLB XR: Adaptive cognitive assessment in XR through a shoe organization task.

    • Emoceanário: Community project combining Psychology, Art, and VR for socio-emotional skill development and violence prevention.

    • GameIN: FCT research on games and the inclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities, featuring the game Torrada e Porrada.

    • EPIC-WE (Horizon Europe): Youth cultural participation and Cultural Game Jams, featuring the games Puss in Books, C.F.I.: Criminal Feather Identification, Mole Catcher, and Blue Brigade.

    • Monopoly of Inequalities: Is Success Merely a Matter of Merit?: Social Psychology experiment/game on privilege, mobility, and equal opportunities.
