Researchers from Lusófona University submitted 93 applications to the FCT competition
On March 25, 2026, applications closed for the 2025 R&D Projects Competition in All Scientific Domains, promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology.
This year, Lusófona University stood out by submitting 93 applications, of which 75 projects are coordinated by COFAC. Among these, 41 correspond to the Exploration Projects (PeX) typology, with a maximum funding of up to €60,000, and 34 are part of the R&D typology, with a funding ceiling of up to €250,000.
In addition to the led projects, COFAC also participates as a partner entity in 18 applications, reinforcing its presence in national consortia and collaboration with other institutions in the scientific system.
Compared to the previous edition, there has been a very significant increase in the number of applications submitted. In 2025, 44 applications were submitted, and this number increased to 93 in 2026, representing a growth of approximately 111%. This increase reflects the strong commitment of the researchers, as well as the contribution of the support teams, namely the science managers, ILIND (Lusophone Institute for Research and Development) and GIPO (Integrated Project and Budget Management), whose technical support and assistance throughout the preparation and submission process were crucial to this result.
