Lusófona University secures six Erasmus+ projects and strengthens its leadership in Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters

Lusófona University has achieved another significant success under the Erasmus+ 2026 programme, with six projects approved out of 12 proposals submitted.

The results include three Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM)—two renewals of existing programmes previously funded by the European Commission and one brand-new joint master's programme—as well as three Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) supporting the development of future joint degrees.

These results further demonstrate the University's capacity to design, coordinate and deliver high-quality European academic programmes, reinforcing its position as one of the institutions with the strongest experience in coordinating Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters.

RE:ANIMA secures a new edition as part of the FilmEU joint academic offer

The RE:ANIMA – European Master in Animation has been awarded a new funding cycle, ensuring the continuation of a programme that forms part of the joint academic offer of the FilmEU European University Alliance.

Coordinated by Lusófona University together with LUCA School of Arts (Belgium) and IADT – Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (Ireland), the programme will continue to educate future animation professionals through a curriculum combining artistic research, creativity and international mobility.

The European Commission's evaluation praised the programme's successful first edition, the employability of its graduates, the updated curriculum and its strong artistic and international dimension, awarding it 88 out of 100 points.

CYBER awarded continued funding

The CYBER – Cyberspace, Behaviour and e-Therapy programme has also secured funding for a new edition, consolidating its position as an innovative master's programme at the intersection of psychology, digital health, artificial intelligence and engineering.

The updated curriculum addresses emerging challenges in AI, digital therapeutics and the digital transformation of healthcare, preparing graduates capable of designing and evaluating trustworthy digital mental health interventions.

Evaluators highlighted the programme's highly integrated curriculum, interdisciplinary pedagogical model, transparent financial management and strong international partnership, awarding it 88 out of 100 points.

EMSEX launched as a new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master

The EMSEX – European Master's in Sexology has been selected as a new Erasmus Mundus Joint Master.

Coordinated by Lusófona University in partnership with Malmö University (Sweden) and the University of Almería(Spain), EMSEX will become the first Erasmus Mundus programme fully dedicated to Sexology.

Receiving 92 out of 100 points, one of the highest scores in this year's call, the proposal was recognised for its excellent consortium, strong scientific rationale, clear European added value and its potential to establish Sexology as a leading academic and professional field across Europe.

Three new Erasmus Mundus Design Measures

Lusófona University also secured funding for three Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM), supporting the development of future Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters:

PROCIV – Development of a European Master's in Digital Technologies for Civil Protection, focusing on artificial intelligence, data science, risk management and emerging technologies.

ENACTIVE – Development of a European Master's in Engineering for Climate Adaptation of the Built Environment, preparing engineers to improve the resilience of buildings and infrastructure.

CEsUF – Development of a European Master's in Building Fire Safety, focusing on fire prevention, risk assessment and fire safety management in the built environment.

With six approved projects, Lusófona University further strengthens its internationalisation strategy and consolidates its position among Europe's leading institutions in the development and coordination of Erasmus Mundus programmes.
