Lusófona University achieved success rates above the national average in the latest FCT call for R&D projects

COFAC achieved very positive results in the 2025 FCT R&D Projects Competition Across All Scientific Domains, with the approval of 12 Exploratory Projects (PEX) and four Scientific Research and Technological Development (IC&DT) projects led by researchers from the institution, as well as participation as a partner institution in two approved projects.

In the Exploratory Projects category, COFAC recorded an approval rate of 25%, above the overall national competition rate of 22%, in a scheme characterized by fierce competition among proposals.

The 12 approved PEX projects are led by researchers from various Research and Development (R&D) Units at Universidade Lusófona: Luzia Mara Silva Lima Rodrigues (CeiED), Susana Rogeiro Nina (CICANT), Ana Jorge (CICANT), Rui Pedro Brás Martins Faísca (IMVET), João Paulo Maroco Domingos (INTREPIDLab), Stephanie Raquel Gonçalves Alves (HEI-Lab), Cristiana de Campos Marques (HEI-Lab), André Freitas (CeiED), Augusto José Rabêlo Almeida Santos (COPELABS), Vera Mónica Sousa Isca (CBIOS), André Rui Nunes Bernardes da Cunha Graça (CICANT), and Raquel Vanessa Horta Ramos (IPLUSO).

Under the IC&DT category, projects led by Dragos Ionut Moldovan (RISE), Jacqueline Ferreira Marques (LusoGlobe), Elsa Maria Bacala Estrela (CeiED), and Maria José Brites (CICANT) were approved. COFAC also participates as a partner institution in two approved projects through Gil André da Silva Costa Nata (CeiED) and Manuel Pita (CICANT).

These results reflect the diversity of scientific domains present at Universidade Lusófona and the growing capacity of its research teams to secure competitive national funding.

The outcomes achieved reinforce the recognition of the quality of research conducted at Universidade Lusófona and demonstrate a consolidation of the institution's capacity to compete for scientific funding at the national level.
